There are thousands of biographical, historical, and hagiographical writings on the life and mission of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) written in many languages in different centuries by Muslims and non-Muslims. But to compile a unique and thoroughly researched book on the House of the Mother of the Faithful, Khadijah (r.a), where the Prophet (pbuh) lived for 28 years of his prime life – 15 years before prophethood and 13 years after – is a remarkable achievement for Dr Ahmed Zaki Yamani. In the production of this magnificent work, the use of modern technology of 3D depiction, Photoshop software, architectural drawings, and full colour photographs and maps have been profusely employed. Dr Yamani is better known to the world as the powerful Saudi Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources between 1962 and 1986, and the first Secretary General of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). What is not so much known is that he is also a celebrated lawyer and a man of profound knowledge and wisdom, who not only founded the Centre for Global Energy Studies in London in 1990 but also Al-Furqan Heritage Foundation in 1988 initially to document, preserve and publish Islamic heritage texts collected from the world over.
