About Us

Welcome to The Muslim World Review.

The Muslim World Book Review, which was launched in Autumn 1980 by the Islamic Foundation, was designed to review books written on and about Islam and the Muslim world. The aim was to apprise and evaluate the plethora of writings on Islam and the Muslim world published mainly in the West. During these 45 years, 45 volumes have been consistently published with four issues each year. Throughout this long period, it has served a large number of academics and general readers not only by introducing newly published books but also by affording scholars and researchers an opportunity to reviews books and share their thoughts on a number of contemporary issues and also deepen the understanding of their readers and broaden their horizons. Thus over these years the MWBR has made significant contributions to knowledge and helped in shaping the thinking of many around the globe.

The world has been changing at an incredible speed since the first issue of MWBR appeared almost half a century ago. The new needs of our expanding readership as well as the needs of the Muslims world and the plural global community therefore needed to be addressed. Consequently, we have re-structured the MWBR to now include scholarly articles on all aspects relating to Islam and the Muslim World, while continuing with the usual review essay and reviews of books. We have also reinvigorated the editorial board and renamed the journal, The Muslim World Review.
