I am writing this review in the aftermath of the UN declaring that genocide is taking place in the occupied Gaza Strip, part of Israeli-occupied Palestine. Despite all of the visual and oral evidence of what has long been touted as the world’s first live-streamed genocide, however, the UN report has been greeted with the usual attack on the integrity of those who have compiled the report by the Zionist state and its allies. If we are to believe Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, for example — an indicted war criminal, remember — the UN has been colonised by Hamas and is inherently ‘anti-Semitic .’ Yes, it’s business as usual from Netanyahu and his far-right regime: absolute denial, aided and abetted by Washington, London and other Western governments .

Western complicity in genocide, according to at least one journalist, makes it impossible for Kier Starmer’s government in Westminster to use the G-word to describe the ongoing slaughter of Palestinians by Israel; to do so would expose his complicity and lay the UK government open to prosecution, insisted Owen Jones in the Guardian on 17 September, 2025.
