Review

As in the previous volumes in the series (2009, 2010), this one attempts to provide an up-to-date and detailed account of Muslims living in Europe. The coverage has expanded from 37 countries dealt with in Volume 1 to 46 countries with more pages as a consequence. The Yearbook follows the pattern of the earlier volumes and presents the information under three sections. The first section provides a summary of essential data in a structured and uniform way for each country so as to make comparison easy. The data have been updated. For each country the information is given under the following 16 headings – Muslim Population, Islam and the State, Main Muslim Organizations, Mosques and Prayer Houses, Children’s Education, Higher and Professional Education, Burials and Cemeteries, Chaplaincy in State Institutions, Religious Festivals, Halal Food, Dress Code, Publications and Media, Family Law, International Relations, Public Opinion and Debate, and Major Cultural Events. Thus, the Yearbook quite comprehensively provides invaluable information about Muslims in Europe.
