There are two fundamental Eids (Celebration Festivals) in Islam: Eid al-Fiṭr and Eid al-Aḍḥā. Eid al-Aḍḥā is a time to embrace the beauty and richness of the Islamic tradition, to celebrate the power of faith and devotion, and to spread love and kindness in the world. Like Eid al-Fiṭr, Eid al-Aḍḥā is a celebration of completing a religious duty. In the case of Eid al-Fiṭr, the religious duty is Ramadan (Fasting), and in Eid al-Adha, it is sacrificing an animal (Qurbānī) on the tenth of Dhū-l-Ḥijjah.
