Review

The book highlights the reflections of Fethullah Gülen—a Turkish preacher, writer, and political figure, living in Pennsylvania, USA, and is well-known for his movement known as Hizmet or ‘Gülen Movement’—on some hotly debated global and regional issues. The topics and issues included in this work, which are based on the interviews with Gülen from 1990s to the present, range from issues like Islam and its relationship with democracy to his thoughts on ‘modernity and secularism, Western civilization and values, politics, fundamental human rights and freedoms, Islam and women, dialogue and coexistence, terrorism and jihad, the Kurdish issue, Alevi-Sunni divide, and minorities and their rights’ (pp. 1, 8).
