Review
This is a fine empirical study of three London boroughs — with the highest percentage of Muslims, among the poorest in the city and all with Labour dominated local governments – and the extent to which its Muslim councillors have enabled their respective local governments to be responsive to Muslim needs. A chapter each is devoted to the three boroughs, preceded by three chapters which provides the wider context – ‘Muslims and minority politics in Britain’ – then two chapters which review local government responsiveness to Muslim interests across all thirty-two London boroughs. London accounts for almost fifty per cent of all Muslims in the UK.
