Review

The book under review popularly known as Khutbat-e-Madras is a compilation of eight lectures delivered by the distinguished scholar Syed Sulaiman Nadvi in 1925 in the city of Madras, India. These series of annual lectures were sponsored by the Muslim Education Society of Madras which is now called Chennai. The Association – a pioneer institution - during the British rule was established in 1902 by Urdu-speaking Muslims. During the 1920s many prominent scholars delivered series of lectures as a part of an annual gathering, including such personalities as Sir Muhammad Iqbal, Mohammad Marmaduke Pickthall, the translator of the Qur’an, and Mawlana [Abdul Majid Daryabadi to name
