Review
Books to guide Muslims in response to their changing circumstances and evolving needs in new environments, or in existing ones, have been a feature for centuries. Those concerned with the challenges facing the Muslim community have responded to its needs by presenting guidebooks and manuals to assist them in their religious, moral and social obligations and duties. Among the comprehensive, well-known and classical books of this genre one may cite the likes of Ihya’ [ulum al-din by Imam al-Ghazali and Zad al-ma[ad by Imam Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah. This practice continued to this day in one form or another. The book under review belongs to this genre and aims to assist Muslims in improving their lives. However, strictly speaking, this book cannot be classified among the two genres mentioned above, for Life Coaching for Muslims is designed to develop the skills and tools needed to enhance the quality of life rather than engage in matters relating to faith, obligations, devotions, rituals and supplications.
