Review

A large amount of academic literature is available on the Malaysian IBF industry in view of the Malaysian government’s aggressive aim to develop their domestic IBF industry compared to only a limited amount of academic material that is available on the GCC IBF industry, hence the need for filling in the gap. In order to fill in this gap, a workshop on GCC Islamic Finance was organised by the Gulf Research Centre at Cambridge University in July 2012 under the directorship of the editors of the book under review. The workshop’s aim was to explore, assess and discuss the various aspects, particularities and dynamics of the IBF industry in the GCC region. The workshop attracted papers in the areas of IBF and provided an opportunity to bring to the fore studies relating to the GCC IBF industry.
