The global financial crisis of 2008-2009 had a significant negative impact on all the economies of the world. Due to its devastating consequences, it attracted the attention of economists, sociologists, anthropologists, psychologists and finance experts. Various ethical, moral, economic, social and financial dimensions of its impact on all aspects of life were discussed and analysed, including its implications for the financial markets. The book under review provides not only the basic concepts relating to Islamic finance, such as its products, markets, institutions and operations but it also discusses in detail issues related to governance, regulations, supervision and risk managements, corporate social responsibility (CSR) and Islamic accounting. This is very helpful and welcome indeed for, despite the relevance of all these issues to Islamic finance in a dynamic marketplace, only a few comprehensive reference sources are available.
