Peace and Pacifism are becoming a rare commodity. All around us the different countries of the world are often mired in violent conflicts. The intensity of these conflicts depends on various factors. Long drawn, low intensity conflicts are more lethal than high intensity conflicts which last for a few days. Often, countries accuse each other of fuelling insurgency in their territories. In many cases, major powers initiate wars for their own vested interests, occupy countries and topple governments without care for the human miseries that accompany such wars. These are brushed aside as collateral damage.

In his foreword, Regis Meyran deals with the propaganda that precede wars, what starts wars and what are the benefits of vested interests (read Western countries) that are gained from these wars.
