This volume includes 28 papers presented at a seminar organized under the aegis of Khaliq Ahmad Nizami Centre for Qur’anic Studies, Aligarh Muslim University, on 4–5 March 2020. In line with the theme of the seminar, ‘The present status of Qur’anic Studies in India’, each paper details academic works done on the Qur’an at a host of institutions in India. Courses on Qur’anic Studies up to PhD programmes are offered at several universities in India, namely., Aligarh Muslim University, Alia University, Kolkota, Jamia Hamdard, Delhi; Delhi University, Islamic University, Kerala, Vishwa Bharti, Kolkota, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, Kashmir University and Jawahar Lal Nehru University, New Delhi. In addition to these mainstream universities, several organisations and centres offer courses on Qur’anic studies and publish journals and books on the Qur’an. Special mention should be made of Jam[iyyat al-Islah, Azamgarh, Jam[iyyah Salafiyyah, Benaras, Idarat Tahqiq wa Tasnif Islami, Aligarh; Idarat [Ulum al-Qur’an, Aligarh, Ahl al-Hadith group, Safa Shari[at College, Islamic Fiqh Academy, Delhi, Jam[iyyat al-Falah, Azamgarh, Dar al-[Ulum Deoband, and Jam[iyyat Mazahir al-[Ulum, Saharanpur.
