Review
This is a helpful compendium on morals and manners in Islam. The code of conduct outlined in the work is admirably deep-rooted in the Qur’an and Hadith. Equally laudable is the wide range of its coverage. Almost every walk of life, including religious duties, social, family, personal life and liturgical practices are addressed, providing the reader with clear guidance on how to live life in accordance with the teachings of Islam. The compendium underscores the truth of Islam being the natural way of life in that it exhorts its adherents to follow the middle path. The detailed section on treating one’s wife well (pp.177–182) brings out the Islamic message of gender and social justice. The selection of prayers and supplications from the Qur’an and Hadith (pp 357–366) should provide Muslim readers with much needed emotional and spiritual solace.
