Review

The book under review is a very comprehensive guide for those engaged in da[wah or communicating the message of Islam in the West. It suggests ways and means to equip Muslims with the necessary qualities and characters which enable them to invite others to the sublime message of Islam. The primary audience is English speaking Muslims living in the West, but all English speaking Muslims in the world will be able to benefit immensely from this publication as there is a huge demand for Islamic literature to understand and practise Islam. The West is now home to millions of Muslims who have come here from the Middle East, Indo-Pak subcontinent and other parts of the world. As this Muslim diaspora of many hues is now in a melting pot of an alien society, it is also necessary to provide them with proper guidance, not only to adhere to their faith comfortably but also to invite other fellow countrymen to the eternal message of Islam.

Shamim Siddiqui, who has been engaged in this mission since his early youth in the former East Pakistan and who is now settled in the USA, has been striving to develop a cadre of young and intelligent Muslims who carry on the mantle of Islam most effectively in the West through their knowledge and, most importantly, through giving a positive message form life examples. The result of his hard work is this useful book which contains introductory briefs about the world’s condition at the end of the 6th Century AD, i.e. after the end of the Rightly-Guided Caliphate, the needs and requisite to fulfil the mission left by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his Rightly-Guided Caliphs. As there is no more Prophet to come, the learned author seems to think it is not a difficult task for Muslims to help improve the present deteriorating situation of the world if only they make sincere endeavours.
